SwitchProbe - MAC/Bridge Section

The MAC or Bridge Mib section of a switch for every MAC address known to the switch responds with the internal port number that mac is on.

WBC Network Health Monitor adds additional information from other parts of the switchprobe showing

• the IP of the MAC from the ARP section of Layer 3 Switches (Routers),
• the Interface for the port from the PORT section, and
• the Interface description of the port from the Interface section.

Additionally, WBC Network Health Monitor

• uses the mac to display the Vendor,
• looks up the mac in the IntraVUE‎ database and displays the device name and makes the IP into a link to that device in IntraVUE‎

 

If the switch is a Cisco switch, the VLAN that MAC address is on is also shown.
